Resumen:
This volume presents selected research highlights from the Seventh Argentine Quaternary and Geomorphology Studies Congress (locally known as 7° CACyG or GEOCUAR) in Puerto Madryn, Chubut province, Northern Patagonia, on September 18-21, 2018, hosted at the National University of Patagonia (San Juan Bosco) and the Centro Nacional Patagónico (CENPAT), a branch of CONICET, the National Research Council of Argentina. The Argentine Association of Quaternary and Geomorphology Studies (AACYG) organized this Congress and it was one of the sponsors of this important meeting through fellowships offered to doctoral students of the Argentine universities. The Argentine Association of Sedimentology (AAS), the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS), and the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) were also sponsoring scientific entities that contributed with fellowships to advanced doctoral students, thus allowing them to participate in the Congress. This Congress received the support of the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET) and the National Agency for Science and Technology (ANPCYT). The objective of the Argentine Quaternary and Geomorphology Congresses (CACyG) is to promote and disseminate the scientific knowledge of Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology, advise the scientific institutions that may request it, and represent the scientific interests of the Argentine community at the international level. These congresses are held every three years in different regions of Argentina, bringing together national and international specialists. Besides, the AACyG organizes every three years a special symposium within the context of the Argentine Geological Congresses and a field trip in different regions of the extensive Argentine geography. This publication constitutes the third volume devoted to the Advances in Geomorphology and Quaternary Studies of Argentina and it is published as part of the prestigious Springer book series on Earth System Sciences
