ThePayún Matrú Quaternary caldera is the only one registered inPayenia (andean back-arc of the Southern Volcanic Zone). Thecaldera-forming eruption deposits are represented by the PortezueloIgnimbrite. A study of the Portezuelo Ignimbrite on the basis ofstratigraphic sections, facies analysis and petrographic studies iscarried out.
