Set-theoretical solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation:The Yang-Baxter equation is an important equation in theoreticalphysics and pure mathematics, with many applications in differentdomains going from string theory to topology.  The importance of thisequationled Drinfeld to consider set-theoretical (or combinatorial) solutions.In this talk we review the basic theory of this family of solutionsand we discuss some connections to non-commutative ring theory.
