Resumen:
Climate change alters the hydrological dynamics of mountain systems. Rising temperatures increase the evaporation of water, which, together with the lack of precipitation, directly impacts the spatial and temporal availability of water resources. We propose to assess the effects of climate change on the mountain-cryosphere, periglacial-environments and high-altitude wetlands in an arid mountain environment located in the Central Andes of Argentina associated with its socio-productive systems. Our purpose is to understand the hydrological dynamics at different time scales and anticipate changes in the bio-physical environment, altering the quantity and quality of available water resources, through the application of nuclear and isotope-based techniques. The work is carried out in the framework of the Inter-Regional cooperation project INT5-156 of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
