n recent years, with the expanding shortage ofpetroleum resources, manufacturers are looking forbuilding blocks derived from renewable resources,includingepoxyprecursorsandhardeners,derivedfromreadily renewable sources1‐4. Limonene is a naturallyoccurring terpene that can be chemically modifiedthroughitsdoublebonds5.Inthiscontributionanoveldicarboxylic acid based on S‐(‐)‐limonene (Li‐COOH)with71%ofbiobasedcontentwaspreparedbyphoto‐activated thiol‐ene coupling (TEC), characterized andusedasenvironmentallysoundhardenerofepoxidizedsoybeanoil(ESO)asrenewableepoxyprecursor.
