Resumen:
Photocatalysis employing titanium dioxide (TiO2) has proven to be a useful method to decompose a large number of organic and inorganic water pollutants. In the present work, we study the degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) in aqueous solution using artificial UV light and TiO2 in suspension. A kinetic model for the degradation of 4-CP is proposed. The model involved the formation and disappearance of the main intermediate products, 4-chlorocatechol (4-CC) and hydroquinone (HQ). The kinetics expressions are validated in a larger reactor of different configuration.
