Resumen:
The activity of TiO2 coatings doped with different Ag concentrations was assessed for the photocatalytic inactivation of dry Bacillus subtilis spores under UV-A radiation (1.89 mW cm-2). The performances of the coatings were objectively compared by means of the quantum efficiency parameter. The highest photocatalytic inactivation rate was obtained with the coating containing 1.09% w/w Ag. A decrease on the spores concentration of more than 3 orders of magnitude (from 3.71 x 105 to 1.29 x 102 CFU cm-2) was achieved after 6 h of irradiation. Also, the highest quantum efficiency was obtained with 1.09 % w/w Ag (nabs = 4.18 x 10-14). It should be noted that this value is almost twice the efficiency value found with TiO2 without the addition of Ag (nabs = 2.29 x 10-14)
