Resumen:
The photocatalytic degradation of 17-α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) and phenol in aqueous solution was studied using a continuous flow, planar microreactor under simulated sunlight. A thin film of palladium-modified TiO2 was employed as photocatalyst. Degradation rates of the single compounds follow pseudo-first order kinetics but, in binary mixtures, the reaction rates of the pollutants can be well described by a simplified Langmuir-Hinshelwood equation. Using the kinetic parameters obtained in the single component experiments, and including a competitive term, the model was able to predict with good accuracy the degradation of the pollutants in the mixture.
