Resumen:
Emerging pollutants (EPs) encompass a wide range of man-made chemicals (such as pesticides, cosmetics, personal and household care products, pharmaceuticals, among others), which are in use worldwide and which are indispensable for modern society (Gavrilescu et al., New Biotechnology 32, 1, 147-156, 2015). Trace pollutants referred to as emerging pollutants (EPs) have recently been detected in the freshwater environment and may have adverse human health effects (Murray et al., Environmental Pollution 158, 3462-3471, 2010).Flame retardants, Nonpolar pesticides (e.g., pyrethroids),Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), Pharmaceuticals, and personal care products (PPCPs), including antibiotics (ATBs) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs).Micro-nano plastics/ fibres.Nanoparticles (other than nano-plastics).Illicit drugs.Many more compounds detected as analytical techniques are improved.
