Resumen:
In this respect may we recall that during the 46th Session of the LSC (2007), it was requested that the ILA provide information on the work of the International Law Commission, particularly on the afore-mentioned topics. This request appears in the Report of the LSC on its 46th Session (A/AC.105/891, paragraph 55 at page 11) where the LSC takes note of the Report of the Space Law Committee of the ILA on its most recent contributions relating to space law, including the ILA comments and suggestions on registration issues contained in a note by the Secretariat (A.AC.105/C.2/L.265), and invites the ILA Space Law Committee to keep the LSC informed of relevant matters dealt with by the International Law Commission. On this matter the ILA Space Law Committee is now pleased to announce that on 17-22 August 2008 the above-mentioned Study Group will be meeting in the framework of the 73rd Conference of the International Law Association to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and that, consequently, the LSC and the Office for Outer Space Affaits shall be kept duly informed and updated on the progress and results of this commitment. In June 2006 in Toronto (as already stated in the presentation by the ILA Committee Chair to the LSC at its 46th Session) the Space Law Commitee submitted its Second Report on "Legal Aspects of the Privatisation and Commercialisation of Space Activities: Remote Sensing (RS) and National Space Legislation (NSL)" to the 72nd Conference of the ILA. During the Toronto working session special attention was also given to registration issues in view of their close link with the topics included in the Committee’s terms of reference i.e., the use of earth observation satellites and their many applications and the increase –albeit slow- of domestic laws on outer space.
