Resumen:
Biogeographic affinities of Late Cambrian-Tremadocian trilobites from different South American Early Paleozoic geologic units are discussed. The latter involve the Cordillera Oriental and western Puna (in the Northwestern basin), as well as the Famatina and the Precordillera basins, which account for contrasting geodynamic settings and depositional histories (Fig. 1). New collections, progress in taxonomic revisions, and new age constraints of several biogeographically important taxa contribute to a more accurate picture of trilobite affinities in the Proto-Andean margin of Gondwana and accreted terranes for the LateCambrian-Tremadocian.
