Resumen:
Biostratigraphic results and paleogeographic inferences have been obtained from an integrated study of acritarchs, graptolites, and trilobites of late Tremadoc to middle Arenig age, from the Eastern Cordillera, northwestern Argentina. One new acritarch species Eisenackidium orientales Rubinstein is proposed, together with two new combinations Polygonium akrochordum (Rasul) Rubinstein, and Ammonidium multipugiunculatum (Cramer and Diez) Rubinstein. A biostratigraphic scheme based on acritarchs and graptolites is established for the interval upper Tremadoc-middle Arenig in the studied sections. Acritarch assemblages appear to relate to the cold-water to temperate Peri-Gondwana Province based on the occurrence of Striatotheca, Coryphidium, and Arbusculidium.
