Resumen:
In this work both carboxyl and aldehyde groups present in commercial and modified alginates, were employed for attach actived-CD by amidation or reductive-amination reactions, and such to attain new polymers with better properties and wide applications. Modified alginate was yielded by oxidation reaction of vicinal hydroxyl groups, in carbons 2 and 3 of the repetitive unit, presents on commercial alginate. For oxidized alginates, unformed hemiacetals were generated when the percentage of sodium periodate used was lower to 75%, according to results reported in the literature. Besides, in oxidized alginate a major reactivity was yielded due to the profit of rotational freedom and to new reactive group formation.
