Resumen:
Microalgal biomass is a renewable and sustainable alternative in a context of energy and environmental crisis. In this research work we propose to generate biomass from the microalgae scenedesmus quadricauda for its subsequent pyrolysis and obtaining bio-oil with fuel capacity. The gaseous fraction released from this process is of interest due to its pollutant potential and environmental impacts. Here, we analyzed one of the compounds emitted in the gaseous fraction, butanoic acid, using two atmospheric simulation chambers coupled to FTIR and GC-FID, through the relative method and different reference compounds. As a result, the following values of reaction rate constants were obtained with chlorine atoms, one of the main atmospheric oxidants: kCl-FTIR=(6,1 ± 1,2)×10-11 cm3 molecule-1s-1 y kCl-GC-FID= (6,5 ± 1,3) ×10-11 cm3 molécule-1s-1. Additionally, a reaction mechanism for this organic acid is proposed and possible environmental implications of its presence in air are discussed.
