Abstract  An algorithm for simulating the hysteresis in the stress-strain laws of Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) is presented. The algorithm stores the sequences of dominant input extrema of the strain history allowing points in the interior of the outer-most loops to be reached, in agreement with the behaviour observed experimentally. A numerical example is shown.
