Resumen:
The fluorescence detection technique allows a direct mea- surement of the atmospheric longitudinal profile produced by cosmic rays with energies greater than 10^16.5 eV. This calorimetric technique provides the cosmic ray energy, without resorting to simulations, and atmospheric depth where the shower develops the maximum number of particles, an observable sensitive to the chemical composition of the primary particle. Recent studies suggest that other observables sensitive to the type of primary particle can be drawn from simulated air showers. The resolution of the fluorescence telescopes can modify these observables. This effect is studied in detail to determine their ability to separate between primary proton and iron using simulations of the fluorescence telescopes of the Pierre Auger Observatory at energies of 10^18.5 eV and 10^19.2 eV.
