Resumen:
ABSTRACT Tripogon nicorae Rúgolo & A. S. Vega, a new species from South America, is described and illustrated. A key for the identification of Tripogon species in America is included as well as a comparative table based on morphology, leaf anatomy, and micromorphological features of the spikelets. A taxonomic synopsis includes synonymy, geographical distribution and ecology, iconography, vernacular names, and a list of additional material examined. Some remarks of the other taxa remaining in the genus are included in comparison with American species. Rúgolo & A. S. Vega, a new species from South America, is described and illustrated.
