Resumen:
Uplifting of basement blocks and flexural subsidence in the foreland basin of the Valles Calchaquies-NOA. The continental sedimentary succession of the Payogastilla Group (middle Eocene-lower Pleistocene) represents the infilling of the foreland basin, related to the subduction of the Nazca Plate below the SouthAmerica Plate. Previous studies indicate that the Eocene and Oligocene deformation events did not generate high relief in the eastern Cordillera. However, the existence of an axial 2000 m thick sedimentary infilling depocenter of sedimentary deposits since the middle Eocene to middle Miocene including a good preserved eolian succession, would indicate that the basin was formed by local flexural subsidence linked to the basement blocks uplift. The relief could be related to the fault displacement involved the basement that will be modeled using structural and thermochronology data in the future.
