An experiment tested if the endophagous parasite T elcnomus iariai Lima has a preference for and is able to detect different ages of its host´s eggs. Results showed no preference. Variability in progeny produced per host egg is correlated mainly with size of emerged wasps and not with host-egg volume. A larval intraspecific competition process is suggested as an explanation ´of these results.
