Effect of thermal treatment and direct tungstophosphoric acid addition on the characteristics of urea-templated titania

Urea-templated titania directly modified with tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) was synthesized via sol-gel reaction, and was thermally treated between 100 and 600°C. The specific surface area of the mesoporous materials decreased and mean pore radius increased when raising the calcination temperature, less markedly with TPA addition. The crystallinity and particle size increased with calcination temperature but little with TPA addition. The band gap energy decreased with TPA introduction into TiO2, and with calcination temperature raise, though in a lesser extent.2, and with calcination temperature raise, though in a lesser extent.
