Sensor networks are used in the most different kind of applications. Each implementation of sensor networks should consider different features of the application such as: coverage area, power consumption, quality of the communications and reliability, among others. A trade-off among these features is involved in every application of sensor networks and the priority of each one of them depends on the particular application. In this paper we analyze the temporal constraints of a sensor network. From this analysis we model a sensor network according to its particular features assuming the power consumption as the main constraint of the application. Finally, we propose two real-time scheduling mechanisms, EDF and Round Robin, and we conclude, from this analysis, that a combined used of both disciplines could produce the best results.
