El género Transversigerina y la edad de la transgresión patagoniana

The genus Transversigerina is one of the few guide foraminifera found in the widespread sediments of the Patagonian transgression. Its occurrence in the basal part of the sedimentary succession deposited by this transgression indicates an age not older than latest Oligocene. Transversigerina occurs in the Spirosigmoilinella-Martinottiella Assemblage, which is characterized by typical Antarctic genera such as Ammoelphidiella and Antarcticella and records the deepest environments of the transgression.
