Resumen:
Cell signals involve the concerted action of multiple processes. Their comprehensive understanding then calls for a combination of approaches. Processes that occur on different space and time scales cannot be observed with a single experimental technique. Modeling is then unavoidable to put together the pieces of the puzzle. In this talk I will first give an overview of the experimental and modeling approaches that we have applied in our group to obtain a better understanding of intracellular Ca2+ signals. I will then concentrate on a particular example related to the changes that occur in oocytes as they mature to become eggs which are directly implicated in the different properties of the intracellular Ca2+ signals observed in one or the other case.
