A very short tutorial on turbulence as an out of equilibrium statistical system

In this talk I will present a short tutorial on turbulence as an out-of-equilibrium system, with a special focus on Marc Brachet's contributions to the subject. I will present studies of two-dimensional and three-dimensional turbulence and their inviscid counterparts using Gibbs ensembles, and discuss how the results from inviscid truncated flows can be used to advance our understanding of forced and viscous turbulent flows.
