Resumen:
In this work, a detailed NLP model is developed in order to obtain the optimal synthesis, design, and operation of a Multiplant Complex (MC) scenario. The work is focused on providing a model for generating and evaluating different alternatives of production. The importance of this approach lies in the integration of synthesis, design, operation, and scheduling decisions. When simultaneously approached, these decision aspects allow considering the relationships and tradeoffs between critical elements of the problem that are usually analyzed sequentially. The approach is illustrated by an industrially motivating studied case involving the production of three products. By penalizing process wastes and allowing their recycle to the different types of process stages, the environmental concern about this issue was considered. Different cases are presented which correspond to different operative conditions and disposal waste policies. For each case a detailed analysis of each plant configuration, design and operation and for the whole integration is made.
