Resumen:
The multi-stage flash (MSF) and multi-effect evaporation (MEE) are the most utilized desalinationprocesses. The simulation of multistage desalination processes requires the solution of non-linear algebraic equations. Two main approaches have been reported in the literature: stage-to-stage or sequential modular and global approach. Aly (1983) and Reutenbach et al (1983) developedstage-to-stage procedures to solve simulation and design optimization problems. Hellal et al (1983) used the global approach, i.e. the simultaneous resolution of the complete set of equations. Combinations of the basic desalination processes, called "hybrid processes" have been proposed toimprove the consumption of energy. The development of "hvbrld processesI requires computational flexibility to analyze and compare multiple alternatives. Thus multiple "hydrid" processes are easily implemented and improved in the modular structure.
