Resumen:
Fine, homogeneous, highly crystallin powders are needed for the production of materials with a wide range of technical applications. Among the most time and energy-consuming fabrication procedures we find those used for the production of ceramics and refractories. The tradicional methods involve the solid-state reaction of finely ground powders, which are heated at temperatures between 1000 and 2500°C in controlled atmosphere for up to several days. The explosion method here reported provides a rapid, reproducible route to synthesize perovskite-type oxides. The final product has the same quality as the solid obtained using the combustion technique followed by the time-consuming and energy -inefficient calcination step.
