Resumen:
ABSTRACT - The dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene with carbon dioxide is an alternative for the production of styrene monomerimportant used in the production of plastics and resins. However, this reaction also has some disadvantages, such as lack of efficientcatalysts. [1] Thus, this study evaluated hematite catalysts supported on zirconia modified with cerium, chromium, aluminum andlanthanum. Substrates were prepared by coprecipitation from zirconium oxychloride with a salt of the dopant, the feed molarZr/metal = 10, then impregnated with iron nitrate and calcined at 600 °C. Hematite and zirconia in the tetragonal and monoclinicphases were found for all catalysts. The specific surface area increased due to dopants, and reducibility was altered depending onthe type of dopant. All samples were more active than the undoped catalyst and the activity and selectivity are influenced bytemperature and doping. The most promising catalyst for the reaction that was supported on zirconia modified with cerium, leadingto higher levels of styrene in low temperatures (530-570 °C).
