We model the magnetic field observed in Meudon, Postdam, and the MSFC (Huntville) using a series of subphotospheric sources. We compute the location of separatrices and find that flare brightenings are located at their intersection with the chromosphere. We conclude that the flare originate by magnetic reconnection occurring at the separator.
