Resumen:
In the Metal Physics Group of Centro Atómico Bariloche, there is a considerably long tradition associated with the growth and use of Cu based single crystals of shape memory alloys. In addition to this a complementary method for the same type of alloys is being optimized in the Group of Physical Metallurgy at the Institute of Physics, Universidad de Rosario. A review of several topics which have been and are being studied, with focus on the advantages of using single instead of polycrystalline materials either from an academic or a technological perspective is presented. The different methods used for growing the Cu based shape memory alloys are also briefly described.
