Resumen:
A Stage has been recently developed, which allows to tensile stress a sample at different temperatures, in a SEM Philips 515 with small chamber. The stress and deformation of the sample during the observation are known thanks to a small load cell and a LVDT. Preliminary results show that a mechanically induced structural martensitic transformation can be observed. As an example a single crystal of Cu-17.12Zn-7.67Al (wt%) is used. The temperature of the sample is controled by a Peltier thermobattery and a copper block which gives a temperature of reference. The control of the deformation process is performed from outside of the microscope, through a specially developed chamber door.
