Resumen:
Magnesite–chrome refractory brick that is heated to temperaturesas low as 500°C undergoes premature degradation, with a significant decrease in mechanical properties. Results that are obtained by dilatometry, differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffractometry, and water absorption indicate that superficial hydration of the periclase grainsduring storage causes such degradation.
