Resumen:
Abstract. VEGETATION REPRESNTATIVITY IN THE AIRBORNE POLLEN SPECTRUM OF MAR DEL PLATA CITY (ARGENTINA). Pollen-vegetation relationship was analysed taking into account the factors modifying the representativity of pollen sources in the atmospheric spectrum. Arboreal vegetation, airborne pollen sampled with a Burkard trap and meteorological data of Mar del Plata city (Argentina) were used. Representativity index and intradiurnal distribution index of 45 taxa were calculated and the daily pattern of concentration was analysed. Quercus ilex L. and Nothofagus were the over-represented taxa with the lowest representativity index. Quercus ilex populations near the trap and the maximum concentration at 8 a.m. support the local origin. Nothofagus has probably an extra-regional origin from subantartic forests since it does not show a daily maximum of concentration. A local effect modifies the Celtis australis L. representation. On the contrary, pollen of C. tala Gillies ex Planch comes from natural forests located far from the city. A significant linear relationship between pollen and vegetation is observed only for over-represented taxa which are anemophyllous. Equal and under-represented taxa (mostly entomophyllous) are registered only if their sources are present near the sampling point.
