Resumen:
In order to produce H2 from the aqueous phase reforming of biomass derivatives (CHO) we seek to find suitable catalysts with lower Pt loads. Four catalysts were prepared: reference with 1% Pt; Bimetallic with 1.5% Ni and 4.5% Co and two tree-metallic with 0.5% Pt or 0.25% Pt and 1.5% Ni and 4.5% Co. The support was γ-Al2O3 Sasol. The metal precursors, Ni and Co, were incorporated by combustion urea matrix and Pt by impregnation. The metal phase was characterized by ICP and CO chemisorption. The dehydrogenating capacity was measured with DHC. APR experiments of three alcohols, ethylene glycol, glycerol and sorbitol were performed with 0.5 g of reduced catalyst in situ, in 1 h at 773 K. The stability during the reaction and the degree of deactivation of the catalysts by coke deposition were analyzed by programmed temperature oxidation tests (TPO). The catalyst Pt(0.5)Ni(1.5)Co(4.5)-Al with 0.5% w/w of Pt shows adequate yield and selectivity to H2. Cobalt helps to maintain low levels of methane, and is a good additive to compensate high activity to undesirable reactions of nickel and promotes stability.
