Resumen:
The behavior of a Pt/WOx-ZrO2 catalytic system (Pt/WZ) was evaluated in the conversion of n-decane in a Berty reactor at two pressure and WHSV levels (5-15 bar and 4-8 h-1), at 300ºC and H2/n-C10= 6. The catalyst was prepared from zirconiun oxychloride hydrolisis, impregnated with ammonium (meta) tungstate solution, calcinated at 800ºC and impregnated with hexachloro platinic acid. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, N2 adsorption and H2 chemisorption. The results showed that the catalyst stability to deactivation is strongly dependent on the total pressure level. At 15 bar the catalyst is very stable and the selectivity and total conversion are very high and not so dependent on the WHSV levels between 4 and 8 h-1. The selectivity to isomerization is high. It occurs cracking side reactions of all C10 isomers to C4-C6, but it is followed by isomerization of the normal light paraffins and it results predominance of isoalkanes in the light stream. The effect is favorable to an increment on the octane number of this most important stream to the gasoline blend composition. Key-words: n-decane, cracking, isomerization, tungsten-zirconiun oxide, Berty Reactor.
