Resumen:
Pt-Re-Ir trimetallic catalysts were prepared by the coimpregnation method. The contents of Pt and Re were 0.3% and the Ir concentration was varied (0.05 to 0.5%). For comparison purposes mono and bimetallic catalysts were also prepared. The acidity of the catalysts was characterized by pyridine thermal programmed desorption, the metals content by atomic absorption and the catalytic behaviour by the n-octane reaction at 450 °C, atmospheric pressure, WHSV=3.4 and molar H2/nC8=7.3. At the end of the reaction the coke content was analyzed by thermal programmed oxidation. Because of the presence of Re and Ir the catalysts were sulfurized in order to avoid excessive hydrogenolysis. The addition of Ir to Pt-Re increases total acidity, the catalytic activity and stability during the n-octane reaction. Selectivity increases and the coke produced burns more easily when increasing Ir content.
