Resumen:
Catalytic naphtha reforming is a mature technology used for increasing gasoline octane number as well as to produce aromatic compounds such as benzene, toluene and xylenes, which are valuable chemicals for petrochemical industry. In recent times, the increasing concern about energy save and enviromental protection have motivated the improvement of reforming catalysts. Several works [1,2] have shown that the preparation and activation determine the activity and selectivity of these catalysts. In order to improving them, the effect of reduction step on the performance of Ge-Pt-Re/Al2O3 catalysts in n-octane reforming was studied in this work. From the results, it can be concluded that the direct reduction step (without previous oxidation) leads to Ge-Pt-Re/Al2O3 catalysts with different properties and performances in n-octane reforming. GeOPtOReO catalyst was the most selective to aromatics (76%), suitable for petrochemical industry while GORPRReR sample was the most selective to isomers, being promising to improve gasoline.
