Mechanical characterization of starch-vegetal fiber composites

In the last years, there has been increasing interest in the use of vegetable fibres for the reinforcement of different materials. The importance of the incorporation of vegetal fibres to starch-based edible films is founded on its high nutritional value and also on the improvement of the functional properties of the films. The objective of this research was to study the ifluence of wheat bran content in the mechanical response of edible films based on tapioca starch and containing glycerol and potassium sorbate.
