In this book I analyze the different legal traditions of American Constitutionalism, during the period 1776-1860. I classify them in three categories, including a liberal, a conservative and a republican model of constitutionalism. I also identify the most important legal authors and discussions taking place in Latin America during that period, and I examine them through the lens of an egalitarian theory of the Constitution
