Resumen:
Citrus psorosis virus (CPsV) causes a citrus diseaseoccurring worldwide. Isolate CPV 4 has a genomewith three single-stranded RNAs. The completesequence of RNA 2 (1643 nucleotides) is reportedhere. Northern blot hybridization with strandspecificprobes showed that most of the encapsidatedRNA 2 is of negative polarity, although asmall amount of the complementary strand mayalso be present in particles. The RNA 2 complementarystrand contained a single open readingframe encoding a protein of 476 amino acids, whichincludes a motif resembling a nuclear localizationsignal. The sequence of this putative protein showsno significant similarity to any other in the databases. In the 3«-terminal untranslated region thereis a putative polyadenylation signal. No subgenomicRNAs derived from RNA 2 were detected.
