Resumen:
The analytic modelling of topological defects, like cosmic strings and textures, captures the basic features of their cosmological predictions. We review recent work done towards finding to what extent cosmic microwave background (cmb) non-Gaussian signatures can further constrain these models. We derive both analytic expressions and numerical estimates for the collapsed three-point correlation function in the anisotropies of cmb temperature for cosmic strings and textures, as well as for their rms collapsed three-point function (cosmic variance). Applying our results to the cobe-dmr two-year data we show that the non-Gaussian features of the cmb predicted in each case are consistent with the theoretical uncertainties present in the maps, and therefore large scale anisotropies alone cannot place further constraints on these models.
