The deep seismic structure of the central Neuquén Basin, Argentina.

A mathematical reprocessing of old seismic lines let to know the Crustal Structure down to 35 km depth. Deep seismic discontinuities were interpreted as the top of the lower Crust and the ancestral master-shear whichcontrolled the rift basin geometry during the late Cretaceous – early Jurassic. In addition, important inversion events were recognized by seismic stratigraphic analysis of the basin, and dated as Pliensbachian – Torcian and Bathonian – Callovian.
