Resumen:
One of the properties that characterize flavonoids is their ability to form coordination complexes with metal ions through binding to different functional groups and sites in their structure. These complexes can exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, antitumor, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, etc. Some vanadium coordination complexes have shown great therapeutic potential, but their applicability has been limited by adverse effects. Because of this, the coordination of vanadium with flavonoids has emerged as a strategy to reduce undesirable reactions and enhance their biological activity 1. In this study, we evaluate how the coordination mode of the flavonoid naringin to the oxidovanadium(IV) cation can modify its anticancer activity on A549 lung cancer cells.
