An on-line aluminium preconcentrationand determinationsystemimplementedwith inductively coupledplasmaatomic emissionspectrometry(ICP-AES) associatedto flow injection (FI) was studied.For the retentionofaluminium, 8-hydroxyquinoline(oxine) and Amberlite XAD-7 were used,atpH 8.5.Aluminium wasremovedfrom themicro-columnwith nitric acid.Thedetectionlimit value for the preconcentrationof 100mL of aqueoussolutionof Al was 0.23 ng.mL-I. The precisionfor 10replicatedeterminationsat the 5ng.mL-IAl levelswas2.4%relativestandarddeviation(RSD), calculatedwiththe peak heights obtained.The calibration graph using the preconcentrationsystemfor aluminium was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.9993 atlevels near the detection limits up to at least 10 J.lg.mL-I. The method wassuccessfullyappliedto the determinationof aluminium in parenteralsolutionsamples.
