Resumen:
In Sepsis caused by Gram negative, the membrane lipopolysaccharides (LPS) of these bacteria -also called endotoxins- induce a severe immunosuppression, the principal cause of death. We previously demonstrated the glucocorticoids participation in this immunosuppression. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the IL-10 contribution to the immunosuppression and its relationship with glucocorticoids. Methods: Wild type (WT) and IL-10 deficient (KO) BALB/c mice were immunosuppressed with LPS (IS). This was evaluated by cytometry, ELISA and hemagglutination assay. Results: KO mice were more sensitivity to LPS [mortality (LPS 10ug): WT=0/8; KO=8/8]. Also an elevated and sustained level of TNF-α up to 6 hours was observed [mean ± SEM TNF-α (pg/ml): WT=731.8±9; KO=3566±9; p
