This volume is dedicated to Guillermo Simari as a festschrift in honor of his extensive academic careeer and contributions in Argumentation. In fact, Guillermo has been one of the ?founding fathers? of this fascinating subdiscipline of Artificial Intelligence, which emerged at the end of the 80s in the last century based on the work of many researchers and philosophers (such as Rescher, Kyburg, Pollock, Doyle, Loui, and many others). Although originallyproposed within the realms of logic, philosophy, and law, argumentation came to capture wide interest in computing to understand and meet the challenges of a number of applications characterized by the lack of certain, consistent, and complete information, and when numerical (e.g. statistical) information is not available or is only partially available.
