A new subgenus is described for the genus Traverella (Leptophlebiidae) based on a new species from Argentina. This genus includes now two subgenera: Traverella s.s. with seven known species distributed from NE Argentina to Canada, and T. (Zonda) with one species from San Juan province Argentina. The erection of the new subgenus is based on the apomorphies established in a previous study on the phylogeny of the Hermanella complex (Flowers & Dominguez, 1991).
