El Orden Ephemeroptera (Insecta) en Colombia

In the present paper the status of the knowledge of the Order Ephemeroptera (Insecta) in Colombia is revised and a brief historical review of the studies carried out is made. General aspects of the Order are presented, including keys for nymphs and adults to separate the families present in Colombia as well as a brief nymphal characterization and biology of the genera registered. Nine families, 42 genera and 33 species are reported for the region; of this 12 genera, and 4 species are registered for the first time for Colombia, including the geographic distribution, known stages and regional distribution within the country, plus the main references and collections where the material is deposited. Some priorities of research in the order are delineated.
