Resumen:
This chapter presents a generic approach to characterize argument-based recommender systems, i.e. user support tools in which recommendations are provided on the basis of arguments. The proposed approach is based on modelling user preference criteria by means of facts, strict rules and defeasible rules encoded in an argumentation formalism. These preference criteria are combined with additional background information and used by the argumentation framework to prioritize potential suggestions, thus enhancing the final results provided to the user.
