Resumen:
This study examined the chemical response of Ligustrumlucidum Ait. and Ligustrum lucidum Ait. f. tricolor(Rehd.) Rehd. when exposed to different sources ofatmospheric pollutants. Dr), weight/fresh weight ratio, specific leaf area ( SLA ), sulfur content, chlorophyll concentration, carotenoids, soluble proteins, malondialdehyde(MDA) and hydropero.vy conjugated dienes (HPCD)were determined Jbr leaf samples taken .from differentsites in the city of C6rdoba, Argentina. These sites werecategorized in terms of their trqffic levels and industriallevels. Both L. lucidum as well as L. lucidum f. tricoloraccumulated sulfur in their leaves in sites with high traffic´levels, the.former being the most sensitive to this type ofpollution. Ligustrum lucidum exhibited significantly lowconcentrations of soluble proteins, in sites with highindustrial pollution levels. Ligustrum lucidum f. tricolordid not exhibit a significant response to industrial pollution
